    Special Olympics, founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, is now the world’s largest program of sports training and athletic competition.  Here in our desert over 150 Special Olympic athletes have a chance to train and compete in eight sports, giving them both confidence and self-esteem to succeed both on and off the playing field.  All of the staff and coaches in the Desert Special Olympics are volunteers and all funds raised go directly to athletic training and competition.  For these reasons, local fundraising is critical to our organization.
   
    On April 24, 2006 Desert Special Olympics will be hosting a dinner/auction and we need your support. These are a few of the ways you can help:
